Chapter 18- A Death Scythe is born.

Ryuu and the others appear in the Hidden Leaf village once again, only to see that it is almost completely repaired from Orochimaru’s attack.

“Damn…ninjas work fast…” Envy states.

“Yeah, no kidding” Ichigo ads.

“Come on! We got work to do!” Ryuu commands, walking over to one of the workers. “Excuse me sir, did you happen to see the ninja that destroyed the last giant snake?”

“Umm…do you mean the guy with the black lightning punch thing?” The carpenter asks. “Because if you do, then he doesn’t live in this village”

“Well where DOES he live?”

“Sector 28” The carpenter walks away to continue his work.

“Ugh!” The powerless Envy yells. “We JUST got here!!”

“And we’re JUST leaving!” Ichigo taunts.

“Can we at least get something to eat first!?”

“We JUST ate!!”

“But I’m still hungry…”

“Too bad!” The winged Arrancar interjects, opening another Garganta.

“Does that make 87, or 88?” Luna asks after consuming another Kishin Soul.

“That was 92” Xajenn corrects as she eats something from the backpack.

“Great! We’re closer than we thought!!”

“Yeah…then we find Kunoski”

“Oh yeah, forgot about that!” Luna returns to her human form to confront Xajenn. “So why exactly are we going through all of this for him anyway?”

“…Something in my heart is telling me too” The vampire looks away. “I don’t know why…I just have to…”

“You love him…don’t you?”

Xajenn’s eyes become filled with anger at that statement. “I am not!”

“Don’t even bother hiding it, Andrew told me everything a few days before he died!”

The Weapon Meister looks back to her lifelong friend. “When he trapped you in the sink?”

“How’d you know that!?” Luna suddenly looks around. “Oh wait, you probably just Goggled it!”

“…Why would Google know that?”

“They have eyes EVERYWHERE”

“That…actually makes sense…”

Gary and Bass walk towards Stein’s office to see if they have a new mission. “Hey, where’s Xajenn?” The Saiyan asks.

“I don’t know, and I really don’t care!” The NetNavi replies.

“Sense when did you become such an asshole?”

“I’m just crabby”

“You’ve been like that all week”

“Well maybe I have a stressful life! Ever think of that!?”

“…Forget I asked…”

“Damn straight”

They enter the office, only to see that Dr. Stein is once again in front of his computer. “Hello students” he begins. “You will going to find Luna and Xajenn. They’ve gone missing”

“They probably just went to go kill something, they’ll be back!” The NetNavi yells. “Mission over!”

“But they haven’t come back yet, and if they don’t, it’ll be my ass”

“Let me guess, so we have to do it for you, right?” Bass asks.

“Yep” The mad doctor responds as he returns to his computer.

“…What are you doing on there anyway?” Gary asks out of curiosity.

“Research”

“…What kind of research?”

“I wanna know what would happen if someone cut open a Leprechaun”

Bass becomes confused. “Hey Gary, didn’t I ask you the exact same-”

“Shut up, Bass! Before I hurt you!” The Saiyan commands.

Ryuu and the others exit the Garganta, arriving in Sector 28. “So…anybody know their way around here?” The winged Arrancar asks. “I have no idea where we are!”

“Then how did you get us here?” Envy asks sarcastically.

“I’ve known this place was here, I just never got around to going here”

“…Is that a store?” Ichigo asks as he points to a brick building. On the front of the building is a neon sign that reads ‘Devil May Cry’.

“What kind of a name is that!?” The powerless Envy asks.

“Maybe they know where that ninja is” Harribel suggests, walking into the shop. The others follow shortly.

The inside looks less average from the outside. There is an old style jukebox with a drum set sitting next to it. All along the back wall demonic skulls and weapons are mounted along it. Near the back wall is a desk and chair, atop the desk appears to be an old style phone along with a few stacks of pizza boxes and framed photos. To the left of the desk is standard living area furniture, a fridge, sofa, and a coffee table. Pizza boxes also litter that area.  

“This place is a dump!!” Envy yells.

“Watch your mouth!” Yells another voice from upstairs. “Or I’ll kick your face in!!”

“Hello? Who’s there?” Ryuu yells up at the second floor. “We’d like some help!”

To everyone’s surprise, a Leaf Ninja walks down the stairs. He appears to be 19 and is about medium height with deep blonde shaggy hair. He is dressed in all black with his Leaf Ninja headband draped off his belt. He sits down at the desk before saying, “Sorry, we’re closed till the boss gets back”

“Are you the ninja that helped us kill that snake?”

The ninja squints at the group before responding. “Oh, I guess I am! Name’s Cody”

Ryuu begins to ask him questions about Organization X.

Xajenn slashes down yet another Kishin.

“That makes 99!!” Luna squeals with excitement as she consumes the evil soul. “Now all we have to do is hunt down a witch!!”

“…And I think I know where to find one” The vampire begins, walking off in a different direction from the one they were going.

“Hey! Where are we going now!?”

“Witch Hunting”

“Oh yeah…forgot about that”

“You’re nuts”

“Yep…so where’s this witch anyway?”

“If I’m right, she should live just ahead” Xajenn uses the scythe to remove a tree from her path. When the large tree falls, a small cottage is seen in the distance.

“…Well this is easy!” The Scythe laughs. “I thought for SURE that becoming a Death Scythe would be difficult!!”

“Yeah, this way we got more time to find Kunoski…” The vampire walks up to the door and knocks.

An old woman wearing wolf like clothes answers the door. “What do you want?!” She barks in a rude tone.

“Hi, my name is Xajenn…and I’m here to kill you!”

Bass and Gary find themselves in an unknown universe, only to see that the entire planet is in ruins.

“How’d we get here?” Bass asks. “I put in the coordinates for Sector 4!”

“I don’t know…but we may as well look around, Xajenn might be around here” The Saiyan walks forward and finds an underground passage. “Hmm? What’s this?”

“A secret tunnel, duh” Bass answers as he and his dog walk down the stairs. “You coming?”

The young Saiyan hesitates for a moment before following.

They reach the bottom of the stairs, and enter a large room that appears to be filled to the brink with computers. All of them displaying green text against a black backdrop.

“The hell is this?” Gary asks, as he types on one of the key boards. “…That’s weird…”

“What? That there are working computers on an abandoned planet?”

“Well, yes. But the weird part is, these are all brand new!”

“That’s…weird”

“Yeah…looks like this was used to make some kind of…alternate reality…think you can get in there?”

Bass cracks his knuckles. “I’ll be right back!” The NetNavi and his dog become a white light and enter one of the computers.

“Well, see anything?”

“Yeah!” Bass says from the virtual world. “I see a whole lot of nothing!”

“What do you mean?”

“It’s just a wood platform, after that; nothing! Just black!!”

“Wood? Why wood?”

“I don’t know…but it looks like the floor of a house…”

“Hmm…Better get back here”

“Yeah, good idea” Bass responds as he and his dog exit the virtual world.

“Sorry, I don’t know anything!” The ninja known as Cody responds. “All I know, is that Orochimaru is alive…again”

“And we wasted the whole day for nothing!!” Envy yells. “Why are we doing this again!?”

“Because we have to find Andrew!!” Ryuu yells back, swatting Envy off of her shoulder with a swift slap.

“We don’t even know if he’s still alive!” The powerless lizard yells as he sticks to the wall.

The winged Arrancar holds an amber cero in her hand and points it at Envy. “Don’t make me blast you!!”

“HEY!!” Cody demands with a surprisingly loud shout. “No fighting in the store!”

Ryuu dispels the Cero without firing it. “Sorry…it’s just-”

“You care so much about this Andrew guy, right?”

“…Yeah…I let him down…one to many times…”

“Oh GET OVER IT!!” Envy yells again.

Ryuu throws one of the pizza boxes and hits Envy dead center. “You be quiet!”

“Nice shot!” Cody complements. “Anyway, I’ll let you guys know if I find anything out”

“Alright, thanks” Ryuu says for the groups as they leave. Envy has to hustle just to catch up.

Xajenn dodges another mystic attack from the wolf witch.

“You just HAD to be polite!!” Luna yells. “We could have just cut her in half! But NO! You had to go and TELL her that we were here to kill her!!”

“I was just trying to scare her!” The vampire defends as she dodges more of the mystic blasts. “How was I supposed to know she didn’t want to die?”

“Maybe because SHE’S A WITCH!!”

“Quit whining and focus!” Xajenn uses Luna to pole-volt over a larger energy blast.

“You two are stubborn!” The wolf witch states, standing on a large flying wolf. “But I’m afraid you must be destroyed now!” She chants another spell, and several wolf skeletons emerge from the dirt. “Destroy them, my pets!”

The two necro wolfs lunge forward with sharpened teeth and claws.  

Xajenn uses her Scythe’s ice ability to freeze them solid, and then incinerates them with raging fire. “That the best you got!?”

“Far from it, brat” The witch raises her hands and swings them downward. A green vortex opens in the sky and hundreds of wolfs, made up of pure energy, begin to fall from the sky. “You’re finished now!”

The vampire smiles sadistically. “You thinking what I’m thinking, Luna?”

“You bet!!”

Xajenn holds her scythe at the ready before yelling “SOUL RESONANCE!!” witch causes a massive red blue and yellow aura to appear around the scythe.

“You won’t win, you stupid girl!!” The witch taunts.

“I’m not stupid, I’m f*cking insane!!” Xajenn yells back as the three weapons attached to Luna (the two scythe blades and the spear head) all grow in size and begin to glow the same colors as the aura. “VAMPIRE HUNTER!!” She swings the weapon, and a massive wave of the three colors flies forward, destroying most of the energy wolfs.

“Now!!” Luna yells.

“Right!” The vampire yells as she drives the spear head into the ground, causing thousands of large rocks to fly into the air.

“Is that your best shot?” The witch taunts again, flying higher to avoid the debris.

“Not even close!!” The Scythe Meister shouts back as she leaps into the air. She leaps off the large rocks like trampolines, slashing every would she passes in half as she goes.

“No! NO!!” The witch yells, shooting more energy bolts at the vampire. “I will not let you kill me!!” Sudden fear has filled her voice.

“Witch of the Wolf’s Hide, YOUR SOUL IS MINE!!” Xajenn screams as she tosses the scythe at the giant midair wolf. The blur of red blue and yellow decimates the beast and the witch falls to the ground below. “Gotch’ya!” She cajoles as she catches the weapon.

Gary continues to get any information out of the computer.

“Any luck?” Bass asks as he plays with his dog.

“…Just about…GOT IT!!” The Saiyan exclaims as he cracks the code. “…hey, what does the name Organization X mean to you?”

“…Not a god damned thing, why?”

“There’s a logo that showed up when I broke the code…but I don’t know what it means…”

“…Let me try something” Bass pulls out his cell phone and dials in a number. “…Yeah, hello? …yeah, it’s me…Well, I wanted to know what the name Organization X means to you” The NetNavi pulls the phone away as soon as the person on the other side begins to shriek with joy. “Okay, I’ll see ya in a minuet” He hangs up the phone.

“Who was that?”

“I asked Ryuu. Apparently she’s happy to hear this. She’s on her way”

“I could tell, I could hear her from here!”

The two laugh for a bit before returning to what they were doing.

As if on cue, Ryuu and her search team appear in a Garganta and push Gary away from the computer. Ryuu begins to look through every file she can open. “…Yes!” The winged Arrancar yells after reading a file. “I knew it!! He’s alive!!” She jumps up and down for joy.

“Who’s alive?” Bass asks.

“Her brother” Harribel answers.

“…You mean Andrew?!” Gary asks.

“YES!!” Ryuu shouts again.

“Does it say where he is?” Envy asks.

The winged Arrancar pauses her celebration to check. “…GOD F*CKING DAMN IT!!!!!!”

“I’ll take that as a ‘no’!” Envy laughs before Ryuu swats him again.

Xajenn and Luna land without a scratch, but the same cannot be said for the witch who is slowly trying to crawl away.

“Where do you think you’re going!?” Xajenn asks, stabbing the witch in one of her legs. I just went through ALL THAT just to kill you, and you try to run away? You’re one bitch of a witch!”

“…P-…Please spare me!” The witch begs. “I…I can give you anything you want!!”

“Anything we want, eh?” Luna asks. “How about…YOUR SOUL!!”

“NO!!” The witch shrieks as Luna’s flame ability burns her to a crisp. Once the flames go out, the chard husk of the witch falls to dust, revealing the violet Soul within.

Luna returns to her human form and picks up the life force. “Yummy!” The Weapon says as she drops the Soul into her open mouth. She swallows it whole and closes her eyes.

“Well? How do you feel?” Xajenn asks.

“How do I feel?” The scythe asks while opening her eyes, they are now a dark pink color. “I…I can feel it…”

“Feel what?”

“…UNLIMITED POWER!!” She screams as an aura the same color as her eyes engulfs her. “THIS IS F*CKING AMAIZING!!” There is a bright flash of light, and the aura is gone. “Well…that was fun!” She looks down to her cloths that have several rips and tears in them from the blast. “…But I’ll be needing a new wardrobe…I’m thinking something with black this time!”

The vampire smiles. “I’ve always told you that you’d look good in black, but you always insisted on all the colors of your insanity!”

“Yeah, well now all of the colors have faded into black and dark pink” Th newest Death Scythe explains. “And I want my wardrobe to reflect that!”

Xajenn laughs. “Alright, we’ll go to a clothing store when we get a new ship!”

The two of them laugh as they walk away, both of them forgetting about the innocent witch they have just murdered.
